Ada Lovelace – the daughter of Lord Byron, mathematician. In 1842 she translated an article about an incomplete mechanical computer devised by Charles Babbage into English. At the end of the article, she added a series of notes which included the algorithms necessary for the machine to compute Bernoulli numbers, the first published computer program.
